“Earl Weaver stands alone as the greatest manager in the history of the Orioles organization and one of the greatest in the history of baseball. This is a sad day for everyone who knew him and for all Orioles fans. Earl made his passion for the Orioles known both on and off the field. On behalf of the Orioles, I extend my condolences to his wife, Marianna, and to his family.”
-Orioles Managing Partner Peter Angelos
The Orioles invite fans to please leave any condolences and memories of Earl in this guestbook blog’s comments.

Earl will never be forgotten. Condolences to your family. Thank you for everything, Earl of Baltimore.
he couldn’t understand how after 26 years that so many still remembered… myself being born in 70 missed alot, but enjoyed many a moment. always wondered why he didn’t continue managing the o’s, but its history now i suppose. remembered by many and loved by more. memories of mr weaver will be passed on to my grandchildren for sure!
My thoughts and condolences with his family and friends during this difficult time… Baseball has lost a great man.. But the teams up in heaven have gained one
You brought many memories and winning ways to our favorite team!!! You shall always be the Earl of Baltimore to us!!!!! You will be sorely missed!!!
I was 14 years old in 1968 and lived at the home of Vince Bagli , a Baltimore icon during the summers. Mr. Bagli and I were working at his house when he got a call that Hank Bauer had been fired. Mr. Bagli went straight to work at WBAL TV and the following day we attended the press conference introducing Mr. Weaver as manager of the Orioles. I will never forget that day. Mr. Weaver was a great, great manager and every time I saw him I reminded him of that day. He admired and respected Mr. Bagli. RIP Mr. Weaver and blessings to your family.
Chuck Swirsky, Play by Play announcer Chicago Bulls.
My fondest memories as a child watching the Orioles with my grandfather, My grandfather was a huge fan of Earl’s, Condolences to the family.
Although I am only 14, my mother grew up in love with his team, as my brothers and I are now. She loved Earl Weaver and told me of the many times she saw him on tv and went to Orioles games herself. I am a huge fan of the Orioles and, although I never saw him in action, was and still am a huge fan of Earl Weaver. He was and always will be my favorite baseball manager of all time. R.I.P. Earl; your legacy will never be forgotten. ❤
I have many wonderful memories of days and nights in Memorial Stadium watching Earl and his great Orioles teams. He is the only manager I know of who got louder applause and cheers from the crowd when the team was introduced at the start of World Series games. I don’t care how many championships he won; most important, he won our hearts. Thanks for the memories, Earl. So long.
I never had the pleasure of watching Earl Weaver, but I have seen his footage and heard his stories. He was a wonderful manager who stood up for his players. He truly was the greatest and will be missed.
My condolences to Family and Frieds – Earl left so many fond memories for me. Baseball has lost a great man and a great manager.
RIP Earl. Good to see you one last time at the Yard. Give em Hell up there.
he’s the reason i started watching baseball i will miss him
Growing up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland we visited Memorial Stadium a few times to watch the O’s. My 16th birthday was at one of these games. The O’s were unstoppable then. What a team. The highlight to all Oriole games was waiting for Earl Weaver to go onto the field and throw his hat down and argue with the umps. I love the game of baseball and Mr. Weaver was the best manager ever. My condolences to his family and those players that had the privilege of being managed by him. What a man! No one will ever be able to fill his shoes. In my memories forever!
Keep them in check in heaven, Earl! He is remembered by many and will live on by more!
Gone but never forgotten
I remember a game against the Yankees in 1985, watching Earl show off his tomato plants to Billy Martin before the game. Earl was the skipper the year I became a diehard Orioles fan in 1982. He will be missed.
prayers go out to the family of earl weaver he was the greatest manager of all time in my eyes he may be gone but will never be forgotten ive wayched the orioles for 24 years be to a million plus games rest in paradise earl baltimore does and will always love u
There was only one coach like Earl Weaver. As a teen/young adult I remember him getting so mad – he would holler and kick dirt – and YES get THROWN out of many games. Thanx for the MEMORIES! ❤ You lived a good life and now may you RIP my sympathy to your family & friends!
Just F.Y.I. I loved Memorial Stadium – that is where I saw Earl at his best!
Goodbye, Earl. You are one of my earliest and fondest memories of the O’s in the early ’80s when I was a youngster; you are synonymous with the Baltimore Orioles and Orioles Magic. I pray that you look upon the O’s from your blue heaven and bless Baltimore, the birds, and Birdland with your love. I’ll see you (via your statue) every game to say hi.
kick some dirt on em earl
Earl said what he thought and didn’t worry about being “politically correct” – a man to admire. I miss my childhood days watching him battle it out with umpires on hot summer days. Rest easy, Earl – and keep giving ’em hell!
Truly a Baltimore legend! A major part of Baltimore sports history. He will be missed but never forgotten!
I grew up and experienced the greatest time in Orioles’ history!!!! Earl not only demenstrated how to be a great leader and manager, but he taught me to always stand up for yourself and for those that look up to you. I will never forget him. Thank you, Earl, for being such a great example on how to be a man. My deepest condolences and prayers are with Earl’s family and friends.
I have been an Oriole Fan since 1969 and I have to tell you the main reason was do to Earl Weaver. I use to laugh all the time on how he would argue with the Umpires. Living in NJ and having to deal with all those Yankee Fans wasn’t easy either. But Earl made it easy being an Oriole Fan, along with Brooks, Frank Boog, Jim, Dave and the list goes on. He was the greatest I have seen for our Orioles and I don’t think we will ever see anything like him again. What a lose for the game and the fans. RIP Earl.
Goodbye, Earl. Thank you so much for your dedication to the Orioles. Rest in peace. Thank you and may your gardening in heaven be a great success, and your tomatoes ever delicious.
Ah, Earl Weaver. As a boy growing up in Baltimore I have very fond memories of Earl. His passion and love for the Orioles was so clearly evident in all he did. My favorite thing was watching him take on an umpire. For a man of small stature he was a giant on the field and he was already missed as a great manager and now will be missed even more.
R.I.P Earl…You Will Never Be Forgotten…No one can think of the Orioles with out thinking if you …Givum Heck in the clouds,,,,
Weaver was the best manager in basaball history, I still remember those games in memorial stadium in seasons 1979-1981 that I personally watched. I am from Venezuela, but when I remember USA I think of Weaver. As long as baseball exist Weaver will be alive in our minds.
Have loved the O’s and Earl since I was a kid in the 70s. Earl’s name is synonymous with the Orioles. You can’t think of one without the other. Thanks for the many fabulous memories you gave to me. Rest in peace.
I’ll always treasure our conversation at All-Star weekend in ’93 about where has the hottest summers, Baltimore or Miami. Of course, we disagreed. Thanks for the wonderful memories, Earl. RIP.
Earl Weaver was a fine man and a gentleman. I had the pleasure to meet him many times. He used to buy cars from my father when he was manager. He was one of the greatest managers that Major League Baseball ever had. He will be sorely missed.
THANK YOU Earl for bringing the ORIOLE WAY and building a winner .You were the best MANAGER in baseball I will never forget you “SKIP” ORIOLE MAGIC R.I.P #4
My condolences to Mrs. Weaver and Earl’s entire family. I became and O’s fan in 1979 and loved the Earl of Baltimore. RIP, Earl. You are already missed.
Had the opportunity to meet Earl on two occasions when I was younger. Before the second meeting, I had done some research and found some wild stories about a former Orioles prospect in the 60’s that was the loose inspiration for Bull Durham’s Nuke Laloosh. Asked him about it, and despite having only coached him one season in the minors, in Aberdeen, ND, he recalled him instantly. “That kid could throw. Threw harder than Nolan Ryan, that’s for sure.” If I’ve learned one thing from the countless stories of him, I surely wasn’t going to argue that opinion. You’ll be missed, Earl.
Earl Weaver is why I became a fan & played the game of baseball. He is the Oriole way.
Prayers for the entire Weaver family. Please know how much joy your husband/father brought the entire state of Maryland. Some of my fondest childhood memories are Orioles games with my dad, either at the stadium, on the TV or on the radio. Earl Weaver, and his passion for the game, made me fall in love with the Orioles. Earl Weaver will live in our hearts for always.
My prayers are with Earl Weavers Family…..This is such a tough loss…It was great seeing at the yard for the 6 statues cermonies and giving the fans pleasure of seeing him kick the dirt on home plate…..Good-Bye Earl of Baltimore…I still can’t believe your gone……bimboski1@yahoo.com
Rest in peace Earl Weaver. You will always be the Earl of Baltimore! You and your early O’s teams kept me out of trouble growing up in the mean streets of West Baltimore back in the day. I was a Junior Oriole for many years as a kid. I manually and individually designed Oriole scorecards and kept score of “all” O’s games by radio listening to Chuck Thompson and Bill O’Donnell. My 10th grade history project involved going out to 33rd Street and designing to scale and building a model of Memorial Stadium (of which I received an A of course)! My summers home from college included working at old Memorial Stadium (the best job in the world). I still can’t listen to the song “We Are Family” to this day. You real O’s fans know why. Renee even sent me to O’s fantasy camp for my 40th birthday in Fort Meyers, Florida! Baseball is and always will be my #1 sport thanks to you Earl!
Always enjoyed watching the games he managed! He was a colorful man who had a vast & complete knowledge of the game &, as a lifelong Orioles fan, I am happy his knowledge will be passed on to future Orioles! RIP Earl.
Earl was the greatest manager in Oriole history. I have so many great memories of going to memorial park with my Grandparents, who are now also deceased. Earl was the Oriole Way! RIP Mr. Weaver.
Memorial Stadium, crab cakes, The Orioles and Earl Weaver. My memories of Baltimore in the 70’s. Your legacy will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace.
Earl began the history that is now the Orioles. I have many boyhood memmories of his teams but more importantly his determination to succeed. That tradition is now shared with my youngest son and grandkids at Camden Yards!
Thanks Earl for all of the great childhood memories. RIP.
I am only 28 so I never got to see Earl manage. My dad has told me many stories of the history of this great team I have grown up bleeding orange and black with. Though I never got to see him or the likes of Brooks,Frank,Boog, Palmer and the rest play I know and love them all. When I was about 14 I found an Earl Weaver t shirt in a thrift store and had to grab it.It doesn’t fit me in the least anymore but I have refused to get rid of it and never will. RIP Earl. So glad that you were here for the statues. You will be missed. The greatest manager in Orioles history.
I fell in love with the orioles as a little girl back in 1966. I have many memories of watching them play growing up but always took delight in watching Earl stand up for his team. From tomatoes, to kicking dirt there is no one like him. Every time I see a suicide squeeze executed on the field I ALWAYS think of him. He was the master. Thank you Earl for so much joy you brought to the fans.
Earl Weaver was the greatest manager a team could ever have. He didn’t hide his emotions, nor did he ever belittle anyone. He had strong feelings and showed them. He was so proud of his teams and a a heart for everyone. He will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to his family. Just know he was loved by many and will never be forgotten. The people of Baltimore solute you Earl Weaver may you R.I.P.
You’ll be missed. Thanks for the memories and your class act example!
So many memories on 33rd Street. Thank you for sharing them Earl. Go O’s!!!!
